WILLIAMS TIES FOR FOURTH AT WILD COST

Mark Williams’ standout year continued on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa, with the Zimbabwean golfer claiming a fourth place finish at the Vodacom Origins of Golf Tournament in KwaZulu Natal yesterday. BY DANIEL NHAKANISO

Williams fired a four-under-69 to move up five places on the final day of the 54-hole tournament played at reportedly windy Wild Coast Sun Country Club.

That left the 32-year-old Bulawayo-born golfer on seven-under-par 203 for the tournament and earned him his third top 10 finish of the season.

Top Zambian professional Madalitso Muthiya notched up his maiden Sunshine Tour victory after a stunning final round of six-under-par 66 saw him jump two places on the leaderboard to win by two shots from South Africans Hennie du Plessis and Ockie Strydom on 11-under-par 199.
